Gran Prix: Monaco 📍 Circuit: Monte Carlo, Monaco 📊 Qualifying: P18 🏎 Laps completed: 78/78 📈 Final result: P13 👏🏼
Franco Colapinto raced through the legendary streets of the Principality of Monaco for the first time! 🏁
This weekend, Franco, the most recent F1 driver, faced one of the most iconic and technical circuits on the calendar. Monaco does not forgive mistakes, and simply finishing the race is already an achievement.
But Franco didn’t just finish it: he gained five positions with a solid, clean and strategic drive.
“Starting from eighteenth place today, it was a hard ask to enter the points, especially in a race with such little action. I would say finishing in thirteenth was the maximum we could really do with all the traffic and different tactics from other teams on track.”– Franco shared after the race.

🛠️ Free practice: precision adaptation
During the Friday and Saturday morning sessions, Franco focused on adapting to the street layout. With walls just centimetres away from the car, confidence was key, and every lap helped him gain a better feel for the Alpine A525. Traffic and on-track incidents limited his time, but the learning process was constant.
🕒 Qualifying: tough Q1 session
On Saturday, Franco didn’t make it through to Q2 and ended up P18 in an extremely tight session. Traffic played a big role, and like many other drivers, he couldn’t put in a clean fast lap. Even so, he stayed calm and focused on preparing the team’s full race strategy — especially since his teammate Pierre Gasly also didn’t make it through to Q2.

🏁 Race: Spoiler alert: Franco made up places!

¡From 18º to 13º!
He started from P18, knowing that overtaking in Monaco is nearly impossible. But with a smart strategy, patience, and steady pace, he climbed up the field lap by lap. 📌 He started on soft tyres and switched to mediums after the first pit stop. 📌 He executed both mandatory pit stops smoothly (2.5s and 2.7s). 📌 He made the most of other drivers’ mistakes and avoided trouble, gaining five positions on a track where that’s extremely rare.

👀 Highlights

- Franco was one of the few drivers with no warnings or contact in a race with almost zero margin for error. - His fastest lap was on lap 30: 1:15.298, using medium tyres. - His best sector was Sector 2, clocking 35.484s at 194 km/h. - The team praised his consistency, especially during the more chaotic moments. - He finished the race with strong tyre management under pressure from behind.
