👏 This weekend we're back in Spielberg
A short, fast circuit with the mountains of Styria as the backdrop. A place where Franco has history, and last year he wrote a new chapter.
The Red Bull Ring is one of the most exciting tracks on the calendar. Every lap can turn into a battle, but read everything about what we'll be seeing this weekend in this week's El Box de Franco.
And last year?
- Franco started from P14 after a tricky weekend in free practice. But when the lights went out, the Franco that the FranClub43 knows showed up. - In the opening laps he climbed to P11 by avoiding the incident between Antonelli and Verstappen at turn 3. He was the last of the five drivers on soft tyres to make his first stop, showing impeccable tyre management before switching to mediums on lap 13. - The race had everything: a spin on lap 31 after being hit by Tsunoda, who received a 10-second penalty, and a later incident where the stewards handed Franco a 5-second penalty. Despite all of that, he kept fighting to the end and crossed the line in P15, ahead of Tsunoda, after lap after lap of intense battling.
The team said they were "very happy" with his control and overall execution during the race, particularly his tyre management in the first stint.
And Franco said: "We had a good start, but as the race went on we struggled with the car and the balance, something that didn't quite work as a team."
