πŸ”οΈ The Red Bull Ring has something no other circuit on the calendar has
Nestled in the mountains of Styria, surrounded by green, with an elevation change of over 63 metres and grandstands that fill with colour every year. It's short, fast and unforgiving.
Franco knows it well
In F2 he set the fastest lap and finished 2nd. In F3 he stood on the Sprint podium. And last year, on his F1 debut at this track, he completed an intense race full of battles through the midfield. This year he comes back with more mileage and a point to prove.
The Red Bull Ring
Located in Spielberg, it has just 10 corners but don't let that fool you. Its unique characteristics make it one of the most exciting tracks of the year, with long straights that offer perfect overtaking opportunities, brutal elevation changes that demand a very specific car balance, a location 700 metres above sea level that affects engine cooling and performance, and the Safety Car making frequent appearances.
It's Red Bull's home circuit and one of the fan favourites for its natural setting and on-track action.
What they'll be working on this weekend
Austria demands a car with a fine balance between downforce and straight-line speed. The key areas where Franco can make a difference are:
Traction out of the slow corners: where positions are won and lost
Tyre management in the Styrian heat: last year he showed he can look after his tyres better than his closest rivals
Quick adaptation to traffic: on such a short circuit, battles are constant and reading the race is everything
The opening corners: last year he gained crucial positions in the early laps
