There are few more vibrant destinations on the Formula 1 calendar than Miami.
The city hosted its first F1 race in 2022 and has certainly been a welcome addition to the schedule — both on and off the track.
With a stunning coastline, intriguing cultural offerings and vibrant nightlife, there’s plenty for anyone attending this weekend’s Grand Prix to enjoy.
Here are some of our favourite sights and activities, if you're heading to Florida for Round 6 of the season…
Beautiful beaches
Miami is arguably most famous for its beaches.
South Beach, in particular, is renowned for its white sand, colourful lifeguard stands and Art Deco architecture.
You can take a walking tour to admire the wonderful array of 1920s and 1930s buildings, or just sit back and relax ahead of an intense few days of racing.
There are also plenty of activities to partake in, if you’re feeling a bit more adventurous, from yachting and kite surfing to snorkelling and stand-up paddle boarding.
And South Beach isn’t the only coastal hotspot to check out. Other eye-catching sandy shores include Surfside Beach, North Beach and Sunny Isles Beach.
Sports teams galore
Miami’s prestigious sports clubs are world-renowned, from the Miami Dolphins American football team to the Miami Heat (basketball), Miami Marlins (baseball) and even Inter Miami — the current home of Lionel Messi.
Depending on the dates you’re in the city, there’s a good chance that you could catch an Inter Miami match or a Marlins game.
Inter face New York Red Bulls at Chase Stadium on Saturday at 8pm ET, while the Miami Marlins enjoy a run of fixtures at LoanDepot Park from this Friday to next Wednesday.
Head to Little Havana
There’s a large Cuban population in Miami, making it a great place to sample the Caribbean nation’s culture.
Máximo Gómez Park is packed full of locals playing dominoes, and there are plenty of fantastic food options if you’re in the mood for a Cuban sandwich, a Cuban coffee or a host of other specialities.
You can even watch Cuban cigars being rolled at a selection of shops throughout the area — and stick around into the evening for some of the city’s best nightlife.
A breadth of experiences
With so much to see and do, there really is something for everyone in Miami.
If shopping is your thing then make sure to check out the open-air Bayside Marketplace, where you can enjoy a spending spree before heading up Skyviews Miami observation wheel for a wonderful view of the city from 176 ft in the air.
Elsewhere, the Biscayne National Park provides plenty of water sports opportunities, while the murals and graffiti at the Wynwood Walls — an outdoor gallery — is a must-see for fans of the creative arts.
Whatever you spend your time doing over the next few days, enjoy visiting Miami!
