✨ History and legacy
- Zandvoort’s link with motorsport dates back to the late 1930s, when the first street race was organised. - The permanent circuit opened in 1949 and joined the official F1 calendar in 1952. - In the 70s, safety modifications were introduced, but the last edition took place in 1985 before a long absence. - It returned in 2021 after 36 years, keeping its essence with unique banking and gravel traps that punish any mistake. - Since then, images of the “orange tide” have spread worldwide, confirming Zandvoort as a GP with a festival soul.
The circuit is considered by many as one of the most challenging and beautiful in Europe.
