The Hungarian GP is done and the Formula 1 summer break has officially begun
Four weeks without racing. For Franco, for the teams, but not for the FranClub43. Before you start wondering what to do with your Sunday, here's everything that happens behind the scenes during this month.
📌 What is the summer shutdown and why does it exist?
The FIA forces every team to stop completely for 14 consecutive days. It's not a suggestion: it's written into the regulations and any breach results in penalties.
During those 14 days, Alpine, like every other team, cannot:
Design or manufacture any new parts
Use the wind tunnel or simulator
Hold meetings, calls or emails about car performance
Why does it exist?
Because without this rule, teams simply wouldn't stop. And with more than 20 races on the calendar, everyone needs to rest. The rule guarantees that nobody gains an advantage while rivals take a well-earned break.
🗓️ The dates that matter
The official shutdown this year runs from 27th July to 10th August. After that, teams have one week to prepare before racing returns.
And the return is straight into an intense back-to-back:
21-23 August: Dutch GP, Zandvoort
4-6 September: Italian GP, Monza
After that, there are 9 races left until Abu Dhabi. The second half of the season starts hard.
🤔 And what will Franco do during the break?
That's the million-dollar question. Drivers use this time to rest, train, spend time with family and friends and, in Franco's case, probably process everything that happened in the first half of the season.
Meanwhile, the FranClub43 doesn't stop. There'll still be content in the app over the coming weeks.
