🎟️ Release date
The film will premiere on 25 June in several countries around the world, while in Argentina, it will hit cinemas on Thursday 26 June. Another great way to celebrate 75 years of Formula 1, at a time when more and more people are falling in love with the sport — real fans like all of us in the #FranClub43.
👀 The drivers have already seen it
A few weeks ago, the current F1 drivers had exclusive access to a private screening. They all agreed the film is super entertaining, and fans are going to enjoy it a lot. 📸 Here's the official photo from that screening:
🎥 What’s up with this F1 movie?
This isn’t the first movie inspired by the sport, but it is the first official Formula 1 production. It’s also produced by Lewis Hamilton, which makes it especially relevant to what we’re watching every race weekend. Over the past few years, scenes have been shot at real circuits like Silverstone (UK), Las Vegas (USA), Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez (Mexico), Spa-Francorchamps (Belgium), Monza (Italy), Suzuka (Japan), Zandvoort (Netherlands), and Hungaroring (Hungary). The cast integrated into the real paddock and filmed scenes during official race weekends. Even if we didn’t catch the cameras live, many of those shots were filmed right in front of packed grandstands.
🚗 Race scenes: pure speed and adrenaline
Most viewers agree: the on-track scenes are the film’s biggest highlight. The visuals are top-quality, using special cameras (some similar to iPhones) mounted on real cars. It all captures the speed, thrill and intensity we feel every race weekend.
📖 What about the storyline? How realistic is it?
Opinions are mixed. The film is aimed more at the general public than at die-hard F1 experts. It's not about debating tyre strategy or pit stop timing — it's about feeling the rush from the driver’s perspective, like you're Franco racing in the championship. There are overtakes and moves that would result in penalties in real life, but in the film they add drama and excitement. Many viewers say that even if you're not a motorsport fan, you’ll walk out of the cinema hooked. “I thought I’d be bored because I don’t like F1, but it’s actually really fun,” was one of the comments overheard after the premiere.
🗣️ What did Franco say after watching the film?
Franco shared his thoughts at the New York premiere: “This film and what we’re experiencing today are a great opportunity for the sport, which keeps growing every year.” He was also very impressed by the stars representing them on screen, like Brad Pitt, and said with admiration: “They really brought the reality of racing (in F1) to the big screen.”
🎞️ Does Franco appear in the movie?
We don’t know yet! We haven’t seen it either — so when you're watching, keep your eyes peeled… maybe you'll spot him in a scene 🧐.
🍿 A movie to experience on the big screen
It will be shown in IMAX theatres, with immersive sound and onboard camera shots that make you feel like you’re behind the wheel yourself. A one-of-a-kind experience that brings the Formula 1 world to life like never before.
👉 The premiere is just around the corner! Are you going to see it?
Franco gave it his full recommendation, saying: “The film is incredible – I’m sure you’re going to love it.” So we feel like that’s a pretty clear invitation to head to the cinema, right?
