Franco’s journey over the past year has been one to remember, as he rose through the ranks in the world of motorsport.
From his early days in Formula 2 to making a significant mark in Formula 1, Franco has set himself up for what he will hope to be another memorable year.
Competing in Formula 2
At the beginning of 2024, Franco was actively competing in the Formula 2 Championship with MP Motorsport.
His performances caught the eyes of many, securing three podium finishes, including a Sprint Race victory at Imola.
It was a strong start to 2024 that teed him up for a positive second half of the year.
Stepping into Formula 1
The Argentine’s big break came in August 2024 when Atlassian Williams Racing announced his promotion to their Formula 1 team, replacing Logan Sargeant for the remainder of the season.
Making his debut at the Italian Grand Prix, he became the first Argentine driver to compete in F1 since 2001.
In his inaugural race, Franco qualified 18th and finished 12th, gaining six positions - but this was just the start.
Notable Performances
Throughout the latter part of the 2024 season, Franco continued to impress.
In just his second race as a Formula 1 driver, Franco earned himself an eighth-place finish in Baku, becoming the first Argentine to score points in the sport since 1982.
Another of his standout moments of the season was at the Las Vegas Grand Prix, where he recorded the highest speed of the season at 356.4 km/h, surpassing seasoned drivers like Fernando Alonso and Daniel Ricciardo.
Transition to Alpine
In January 2025, Alpine announced Colapinto as their Test and Reserve Driver on a multi-year deal.
His target now is to focus on getting himself in top condition so that when an opportunity comes his way he is as ready as ever.
With the 2025 season now around the corner, Franco will be looking to soak up any experience he can get behind-the-scenes and keep sharp as the season gets underway.
