FRANCO OVERCOMES AN OFF-TRACK MOMENT AND STAGES A GREAT COMEBACK TO P9 AT MONZA
Franco started P7, ran as high as P4 after the restart and, despite an off at Turn 6, fought back to cross the line in P9, securing crucial points for Alpine.

How the race unfolded
Franco made an excellent start, gaining ground immediately and running as high as P4 after the restart following a heavy accident on lap 2. Everything pointed to a great race for our number 43.However, on the restart, a snap sent him straight into the gravel at Turn 6. He avoided the barrier, but the team noticed the car's handling had changed afterwards, suggesting there may have been some floor damage.Far from giving up, Franco focused on the recovery drive. He clawed back ground lap after lap with a string of overtakes that gave the community the thrill of watching him fight for position, until he crossed the chequered flag in P9 and picked up valuable points for the team.

What Franco said:"After a race like today, with all the emotions and the context we were in, it's hard not to feel frustrated. I'm frustrated with myself, because it could have been much better and for that I'm sorry to the team. We made a good start and gained places, we were as high as P4 at the restart after the red flag. As a driver, when you're fighting for these positions, it gives you an extra buzz and you want more. I was following closely behind Max and had a big snap going into Turn 6, and went deep into the gravel. After that, I just tried to refocus and go and pick up points for the team."
Flavio Briatore also praised his recovery drive, saying: "Franco drove a brilliant race to recover and earn valuable points for the team."
